MANUFACTURING ENGINEER
SUMMARY
Manufacturing Engineers must have a strong knowledge of Engineering processes. This role is responsible for developing, supporting, and improving manufacturing methods for new and existing products, including tooling, layout, and equipment by researching and implementing process improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop, evaluate, and make continuous improvements to our manufacturing methods
· Analyze space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and work space for maximum efficient production methods
· Collaborate with manufacturing and quality staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
· Develops and supports implementing error proofing in continuous improvement projects using root cause/corrective action tools
· Liaison for tooling and machining suppliers
· Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
· Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
· Operate CAD system to design and develop process drawings and fixture drawings for use in the manufacture of product
· Change and distribute controlled documents as directed
· Provide training to other worker within the production department
· Must be able to effectively communicate
· Must have strong problem-solving techniques (sixsigma, root cause analysis)
· Maintain, relate, and promote a positive work environment
· Understanding of lean principles with a demonstrated application required
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
· Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations
· This is a full-time job type, 40 hours or more per week
· The employee is required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; climb or balance; kneel or crouch; reach with hands and arms, use fingers to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; and lift or move to 50 lbs.
· Exposure to adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold)
· Strong specific vision abilities required by this job include close/distance, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
· The noise level is usually moderate to loud
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or engineering technology discipline, a minimum of three to five years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Subject matter expert in the following manufacturing processes: milling, shaping, hobbing, grinding, turning, cutting tools and concepts
· Plex ERP working knowledge preferred
