ENGINEERING MANAGER
SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle support to our 24/7 manufacturing facility. Plan and direct the Engineering Department activities and projects within our organization. The Engineering Manager will provide leadership in directing all aspects of Engineering, Cost Estimating, and Program Management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive and evaluate continuous improvement activities as they relate to the Engineering Department, plant and their processes
- Hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Maintains document control system for compliance to Q.S. 9000 and customer requirements
- Represent the Company in Technical meetings with customers and suppliers
- Analyze space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficient production methods
- Consults with Engineering & Manufacturing personnel to assist in machine modification for production or quality improvement
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards & corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
- Develop part and process documentation
- Able to challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model
- Possesses a strong understanding of true manufacturing costs both fixed and variable
- Ability to work under pressure in real time production processes
- Must be able to effectively communicate both in written and verbal form
- Must have strong problem-solving techniques (six sigma, root cause analysis)
- Maintain, relate, and promote a positive work environment
- Understanding of lean principles with a demonstrated application required
- Other special projects and duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations

- The noise level is usually moderate to loud
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or engineering technology discipline
- Minimum of five years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience effectively leading a team in a manufacturing environment
- Proven history of success in continuous improvement initiatives
- Working Knowledge of Plex ERP system
